about me

About

Hello! My name is Miguel — an entry level UX Designer and Product Designer with 3 years of experience. By developing my tech/design and political science background, I aspire to create and design technological tools to provide avenues of learning political and social justice among underrepresented communities.

I am currently a Lead UX Designer at Project Compass, a volunteer-led project at Code for San Francisco. My efforts in co-leading the Design System team, initiating the project's branding work, and contributing to data visualizations have all helped to expedite our MVP launch date to mid-2023.

Before Compass, I served as a UX Designer for Access the Data, a Hack for LA project, where I was directly involved with creating the wireframes and prototypes of the product that inspired the MVP version. Furthermore, during my time as a student at UC Irvine, I was the lone Web Designer and Research Assistant for the on campus design lab, EVOKE. In this position, I single-handedly spearheaded the lab's branding process and website creation through WordPress.

The foundation of my design process began at University of California, Irvine as a double major in Informatics (HCI) and Political Science. During my time in undergrad, I garnered a lot of experience with the process of UI/UX design, gaining a proficiency in tools like Figma and Miro to conduct my design projects and assignments.
